The Blood Strategy

God intended to get His people out of Egypt.  They were held in bondage and slavery.  Through a series of plagues, God moved on His people’s behalf.  The entire event is found in Exodus 4-14.  God through radical methods set His people free.  During the course of the events to get His people free, destruction and death visited Egypt.  In order to protect His people, God gave them a strategy that looked odd in the natural, but in the spiritual, the strategy had a lasting impact; the strategy was “applied blood.”  This event is found in Exodus 12.  God said to His people, “I will pass through Egypt and strike down…  I will bring judgment… (but) the BLOOD will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you.  No destructive plague will touch you…” (Exodus 12:12-13 NIV modified).

The Blood Applied

God then gave them these instructions, “take hyssop, dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood on the top and on both sides of the doorframe. Not one of you shall go out the door of his house until morning.  When the Lord goes through… He will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down” (Exodus 12:22-23). 

Jesus’ Blood

Before Jesus was crucified, He shared a meal with His disciples.  That meal was the passover, the commeration of the event in Exodus.  During that meal, Jesus declared (and I’m paraphrasing) – the blood of the passover lamb, was a token, a shadow, a type … I AM THE TRUE PASSOVER LAMB, this bread we’re about to eat, well, it is my body, which is broken and torn for you, and this fruit of the vine we’re about to drink, well, it  is my blood, which is poured out for you and for many.  My Blood is available to be applied to your life.  I’m making a New Covenant with you, a Covenant ratified in my own blood.

Today, Jesus speaks and declares:

“My blood is available to you, my people.  I am the great Passover Lamb.  My blood, APPLIED TO YOUR LIFE GIVES YOU PROTECTION FROM THE DESTROYER.  My blood applied to your property, gives you protection.  My blood, applied to your finances, keeps the destroyer at bay.  My blood, applied to your spouse, home, lives, gives you protection.  And everywhere I SEE MY BLOOD, I WILL NOT ALLOW THE DESTROYER TO COME NEAR OR TO ENTER.”

Applying the Blood of Jesus

How do we apply the blood of Jesus to our lives, homes, etc.  We use the hyssop of our words and tongues.  We apply the blood the same way we apply everything in the spirit realm, by our faith-filled words.  We speak, confess, declare, sing about, apply, etc, the Blood of Jesus and what the Word of God says about it. 

So, here is a strategy for applying the Blood of Jesus in your life:

1. Build your faith in the Blood by finding all that the Word of God says about the Blood of Jesus.  Romans 10:17 declares that our faith comes from the Word of God.  Find what the Word says about the Blood and then meditate on those Scriptures.
2. As you are building your faith, release confessions about the Blood of Jesus.  Speak to yourself and say things like, “The Blood of Jesus is applied to my life in Jesus Name.  Thank you Lord for your precious Blood.  Thank you for shedding the Blood that protects me, my home, and all that is mine.”    Say things like, “I apply the Blood of Jesus to my home, right now, in Jesus’ Name.”
3. Finally, use prophetic images to remind you of the Blood.  Rahab the harlot had to tie a red string in her window for protection on her house.  Find a red string, we have many at New Covenant Church of Atlanta, and tie them to your doorknobs in your home, to your Bibles, to your car, etc.  This will serve as a reminder that the blood is at work in your life.

With all of my heart, I want to see all of you rise up and experience the awesome power of the Blood of Jesus – to become a blood marked army that learns to administrate the precious power of the Blood.  I declare over you today, the Blood of Jesus is at work in your life, In the Name of Jesus.
