The Word and The Spirit

Genesis 1:2-3

Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

When God inspired the Word to be written, He prioritized.  He inspired the writers and the organizers to place Genesis 1 in the beginning.  While that may sound funny, it’s vital to understand what God considers important for us to “catch first.”  Before we learn that God is a loving God, before we learn that God is a holy and righteous God, and before we learn that God had a redemptive plan already set in motion, we learn that God is a SPEAKING God. We also learn that the Holy Spirit hovers and creates in response to the Word of God.

Ephesians 5:1 says, “Be imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example]  as well-beloved children imitate their father.”  We can begin this new year imitating our heavenly Father.  We can co-labor with Him and release His power and Presence (the Holy Spirit) into our year by speaking His Word.

Let’s start with these:  “In the Name of Jesus, I dedicate 2013 to growing in revelation knowledge.  My days will be filled with the Presence of God.  I plead the Blood of Jesus and declare that His Blood will mark my days.  The Glory of the Lord will surround me like a shield, and I will be set apart for God.”

Co-labor with God to speak His Word and release His Presence.  His Word and His Spirit will always go hand-in-hand.
